TOYOTA STUCK IN THE MATS AGAIN! CONSUMERS BEWARE! POSSIBLE LEMON LAW CLAIM!

February 24, 2011- Toyota Motor Sales, USA, INC. announced today a recall of 2.17 million Toyota and Lexus Vehicles for accelerator problems. During the recall, adjustments will be made to prevent the accelerators from becoming jammed in the floor mats or stuck in the carpeting. The recall by Toyota Motor Sales is for the following vehicles: Toyota 4Runner, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Highlander, Lexus GS, Lexus RX, and Lexus LX.

This recall is in addition to the prior recalls which Toyota has made this year, which have received notoriety. Since January 2009, Toyota has recalled more than 15,000,000 vehicles, yes that is correct, 15,000,000 vehicles, and has been forced to pay more than $49,000,000 in fines.

This accelerator getting stuck is a serious problem and it could cause serious, life threatening injuries. If your car is listed above, do not hesitate in getting to your local Toyota Dealership or Lexus Dealership immediately to have it checked out.

As a consumer because a recall has been instituted, that does not mean you are automatically entitled to be compensated. For a manufacturer to be required to compensate you would require some relief under your state’s lemon laws. A recall does not mean that your vehicle is a lemon. A recall is a safety measure taken by manufacturers, either voluntarily or required by the government. However, if you have already experienced any problems with your Toyota or Lexus relating to the accelerator, and have already taken your car in for repairs for this problems on more than one occasion, it is possible that your Lexus or Toyota may be a lemon and you may be entitled to relief under the law, which could include a cash settlement or a repurchase of your vehicle.
