Lemon Law Alert! Ford Issues Another Recall. New Ford Explorers Recalled for Seat Problems.
Ford Motor Company recently stated in a filing with federal safety regulators that the seats in its newly built Ford Explorers may not provide the required strength in the event of a crash.
The recall affects more than 1,600 2011 model-year Ford Explorers that were made between July and December of 2010. Ford dealers have been instructed to stop delivering the affected vehicles until they are repaired.
The affected Explorers are equipped with second-row defective seatbacks. In the event of a crash, the seatback may not provide the required strength thereby increasing the risk of injury to vehicle passengers.
The newly designed and popular Ford Explorer was launched in late 2010. Ford sold more than 7,300 of the new Explorers last month alone, which marks a 70% increase in sales from the older version a year earlier.
Ford has stated that it will repair recalled vehicles for consumers who have purchased the affected Explorers. Ford is expected to send recall notices starting this Monday, February 14.
This is yet another recall issued by Ford in 2011. Since the beginning of this year, Ford has recalled more than 900,000 vehicles, which is more than the approximate 600,000 vehicles that Ford recalled in all of 2010.
If you are driving a 2011 Ford Explorer, and have not yet experienced any problems with your seats, take your vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership in order for them to assess your vehicle and make any necessary repairs.
However, if you have already experienced any problems with your Ford Explorer, you may have a lemon and you may be entitled to your money back or a new vehicle.
